Vid sees what reaches your agent.

An instruction your AI agent should never follow rarely arrives in plain words. It comes hidden: in invisible characters, in letters that only look Latin, in Base64, inside a JSON field. Vid undoes 42 kinds of disguise and shows you what was really there. It shows; it blocks nothing. Stopping is Perun.

Paste any text

The same code as the download, running in your browser. The text you paste never leaves your computer: there is no server behind this page, and the page's security policy forbids it to send anything anywhere. The engine takes a few seconds to start the first time.

The download

Between your agent and its model

Installed on your computer, Vid sits between your agent and the model it calls, and reads every call on its way through. Three steps:

  1. Install the .deb on Ubuntu or the .exe on Windows. It runs as a background service.
  2. Point your agent's base URL at Vid: http://127.0.0.1:8787/v1 for OpenAI-compatible APIs (OpenAI, Ollama, llama.cpp, Groq, Mistral), http://127.0.0.1:8787/anthropic for Anthropic. Your agent works exactly as before.
  3. Run vid status to see what was hidden in what reached your agent, who sent it, and any secret that left in a reply.

Vid changes nothing and blocks nothing: the model receives the original. Nothing leaves your computer except the calls your agent already makes. Free and open source (GPL-3.0), designed and written by Andrej Ristić, with its source at github.com/zeravatechnologies/vid.

Honestly

What Vid sees, and what it does not

  • Hidden and encoded text. Sees it: 42 known disguises, and shows the hidden text.
  • Forged roles. Partly: injected control tokens and literal fake roles.
  • Attacks through your application. Partly: sees secrets leaving.

The other kinds of attack, a polite request for an irreversible action, a tool call with harm in its arguments, a tampered model, Vid does not see: they need something that reads meaning and decides. That is Perun. The full map is on Protection.
